Enter the Sector Number
Select , in the Setup Activities Screen, this will populate the Sector List which will only display the first Sector (1 Oilseed Farming). Click on this Sector, enter your known Sector Number, and Select Enter.
Sector (Keyword) Search
This is the best method of finding an Industry or Commodity Sector if the Sector or Commodity code is not already known. This provides two advantages:
- Quick navigation to appropriate Sectors based on keyword association.
- IMPLAN Sector codes and their associated NAICS codes are displayed, permitting easy cross-reference to NAICS descriptions for increased accuracy in Sector selection.
The Keyword search, or Sector Search as it is referred to in the IMPLAN Software, is located by selecting the Help menu and Sector Search.
Type a keyword into the field and click or press Enter on the keyboard. The window will display the Sectors (Industry Codes) and NAICS Codes associated to the keyword. You can remove your keyword search by clicking
or highlighting and deleting it. A new keyword can then be entered into the field. To activate the new keyword search, click
or press Enter on the keyboard.
When the desired Sector is located, it can be selected by highlighting the Sector and selecting .
You can also use to locate sectors by NAICS code. This will display the sector and all associated descriptions reporting under that 6-digit NAICS code.
When modeling Commodity Changes and Institutional Spending Patterns, the Sector selection will display Commodity Sector Codes and their associated NAICS Codes for both keywords and NAICS searches.
If several Sectors still look they might match your industry, organize the Sectors by Industry Code.
This is done by clicking on the column. When the list is sorted, you can scroll down the Sectors that seemed to be the best match and view all the NAICS code descriptions reporting to that Sector. This will often help you to discern which Sector truly is the best match for your industry.
