INTRODUCTION
Throughout the IMPLAN application you’ll find this menu icon . Clicking on it provides additional options.
You’ll find this icon on each Event in IMPLAN along with other icons providing shortcuts to a few of the included options.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE IN ALL EVENT TYPES
In all Events, you have the option to Select/Deselect the Event, Toggle Edit Mode, Duplicate Event, and Delete Event.
To duplicate or delete an Event, you must use the menu options, but for the other available options, you’ll find additional icons directly on the Event.
Selecting and deselecting the Event can also be done by clicking the Event Handle.
Toggling the edit mode can also be done by clicking the pencil icon on the Event.
When entering new Events in a Project, Events will by default be in edit mode, but when revisiting the Impact Screen of a Project after an analysis has been run, the existing Events will be locked (which means the edit mode will be turned off), which is signified by the lock icon .
ADVANCED FIELDS
The following Event Types have Advanced Fields as an additional option:
- Industry Output
- Industry Employment
- Industry Employee Compensation
- Industry Proprietor Income
- Commodity Output
- Industry Spending Pattern
- Institutional Spending Pattern
In the case of these Event Types, we’ll see an additional option in the Event Menu as well a corresponding additional icon on the Event itself.
The Advanced Fields icon on the Event will be colored teal to indicate that an entry has made in the Advanced Fields of an Event .
Additional Known Industry Value Fields
The four Industry Event Types (Industry Output, Industry Employment, Industry Employee Compensation, and Industry Proprietor Income) are appropriate for analyzing a change in an Industry’s production. Picking among the four types should be determined based on which value you have available about the industry.
When more than one of the values that can be provided (Output, Employment, Employee Compensation, Proprietor Income) is known, those additional values can be entered in the Advanced Field.
Local Purchase Percentage Field
Commodity Output, Industry Spending Pattern, and Institutional Spending Pattern Events have the Local Purchase Percentage (LPP) as an Advanced Field of the Event.
Learn more about this Advanced Field here.
Margins Field
Industry Output, Industry Employment, Industry Employee Compensation, Industry Proprietor Income, and Commodity Output Events have a Margins option as an Advanced Field. The Margins Advanced Field is only enabled in an Industry Event when the Specification is one of the Retail or Wholesale Industries in IMPLAN. Learn more about Retail and Wholesale: Industry Margins.
The Margins Advanced Field is only enabled in an Commodity Output Event when the Specification is a Commodity that can be sold via retailer or wholesaler, or is a retail or wholesale service Commodity. Learn more about Retail and Wholesale: Commodity Margins.
Additional Spending Pattern Fields
Industry and Institutional Spending Pattern Events have several options in their Advanced Fields in addition to the LPP Field. Spending Patterns also have a Percentage Field to adjust the allocation of spending across the included Commodities. Commodities can be added or removed from the Advanced Field. Spending Patterns can also be Normalized and Reset from the Advanced Fields. Learn more about Editing Industry Spending Pattern Events and Editing Institutional Spending Pattern Events.
