I’m working on several projects where I need to estimate the economic impact of businesses locating in the geographic area, and I have some conceptual doubts on how to proceed. Problem: estimate the economic impact of a new economic activity (store, manufacturing plant or office), and the only information available is the number of projected employees. Questions: [ol] [li]By entering the employees number, IMPLAN automatically calculates the level of sales “needed” to support that level of employment. Can the second round of spending (indirect effect) be considered as the operational budget of that business?[/li] [li]If I have information on the salaries paid to these employees (either as loaded payroll or just salary levels), do I need to include this data to have a more comprehensive estimate of the economic impact or is it already included in the model when I enter the number of employees (as induced impact)?[/li] [li]Are sales taxes generated by that business included in the State and Local tax impact?[/li] [li]The City of Richmond has a meal tax and an admission tax, in addition to VA sales tax. Does IMPLAN calculate those two? And If it does, are they included in the sale tax column?[/li] [/ol] Thank you in advance! Fabrizio
