Very slow system

Hi, I’m using a recently purchased external drive with V3, trying to build and run models – nothing fancy – for a state. It is taking forever to build a model, never mind set up activities, and run scenarios. Is there something I should be checking? This is the kind of thing where it can be taking up to a half hour or more to run something. I’ve been trying to build a model for 20 minutes and it stopped responding. Are there any suggestions? Thanks so much.

  I would try two things: 1) Disable antivirus while running software. There is a tremendous amount of data reading and writing going on in the background - some antivirus programs filter every bit of throughput which brings the system to a halt while it analyzes. 2) If you have another USB port try it out. Sometimes a port goes bad.

  Techies told me of 2 other options 3) Reboot 4) Check for viruses if you haven't had an anti-virus running.
