My client would like to look at the economic impacts of film/video production for our region (a five county area of SW Colorado). I have combined the counties to make a "region" using 2010 data from Implan and selected output multipliers from the most likely industries that film crews utilize/ spend money on - see attached. The film office manager can sometimes break down expenditures into categories like lodging or transportation, etc., but more often gets generalized budgets that include everything the crew spent money on (total expenditures). My question is, would it be valid to create an average multiplier and use it to estimate output. So for example, using the average multiplier shown on the attached could I say something like "based on expenditures of $100,000 there are an estimated $49,824 in indirect impacts, bringing total expenditures of the visiting film crew to about $149,824".
