I am updating an analysis that I did in 2011 that made use of your 2010 Total File for USA data. I noticed that some of the multipliers I am using experienced a significant drop from the previous data set to the current data set. For example: Employment Type Sam Multiplier for 2010 Employment Type Sam Multiplier for 2012 429 Other Federal Government enterprises 4.726000 1.854997 My questions are: 1. Was there a significant change from 2010 to 2012 in the way the multipliers were calculated that would explain the big difference between the two multipliers? 2. If the answer to question 1 is no, can you explain what factors have the most influence in multiplier changes? Your forum provided some of the following factors: a. Size of the study area – unless there was a change in how multipliers were calculated, the US is still the US, so this should not be a factor. b. Change in imports – an example explaining this factor would help. c. Change in household spending – I understand this one; is it thought to be a significant factor at the national level? d. Changes in Labor Income per Output – an example explaining this factor would help. e. Are there other significant factors at the national level that I have not mentioned? Thank you for your assistance.
