Hotel Sector - Food & Beverage Revenue?
Hello,
Does Sector 499 (hotel and motels) account for food and beverage revenue? I am modeling the fiscal impacts of a hotel, which includes a restaurant, lobby bar, and cocktail lounge. Should I input the annual sales of the entire hotel in the IMPLAN model using Sector 499? Or should I input the annual sales of the restaurant, bar, and lounge separately in the IMPLAN model using Sector 501 (full-service restaurants) and Sector 503 (all other food and drinking places)?
Thank you for your help!

Hi Dominque! Thank you for your post! Sector 499- will account for restaurant, bar and lounge if it is included in the operational spending pattern. You can view the spending pattern in the Software by going into the Social Accounts > Balance Sheets > Industry Balance Sheets > Choose Sector 499. You can see that part of the Operations does include Full-Service restaurant Services, Limited-service restaurant services and all other food and drinking place services. If you have the split for the restaurant, we would recommend modeling that separately, but the snacks-limited service, should be run with the hotels. Thanks! -
Thank you for your response. It turns out that I do not have the split for the restaurant, so I am unable to model it separately. However, it appears that the operational spending pattern for Sector 499 does not include restaurants. Is there a way to modify the spending pattern so that restaurants are included, and Sector 499 can account for the restaurant, bar, and lounge? Attached is a screenshot of the components currently included in the Sector 499 spending pattern. Thank you, Dominique -
Hi Rob, Thank you for your post! Yes, you are correct in that Casino Hotels would fall under Industry Sector 499. Impacting this sector through an Industry Change Activity Type will give you the Operational impact. This is unless you know that non-industry production is occurring. You had mentioned in your post the Commodity 3499 for Casino Hotels. The commodity description will have a 3 at the beginning. If you are doing an Industry Change Activity, this is the most common to use when modeling a change in production, you would use Industry code 499. If you can split out the casino operations value the spending pattern for 499 includes some amusements but not a purchase of 3495. Thanks!
