Government Sector with the highest Multiplier
Hello,
I am looking for a sector that local government would typically invest in, which would have the highest employment multiplier. I went under Explore>multipliers chose employment in the drop down and sorted by SAM multiplier. The top sector was 562 Other local government enterprises, however, I cannot find it when looking in the sector search (I wanted to know the NAICS equivalent). Is 526 not a sector? Is it a commodity? at what number does it switch from sector to commodity?
Would you be able to tell me what the sector I am looking for might be for Brevard County FL?
Thank you!

Hello, Sector 526 includes multiple NAICS sectors and has no direct NAICS equivalent. Local government enterprises includes any government operations that are financed primarily by revenues generated from those operations rather than from budget appropriations. A local government could operate “businesses” that fit into any number of NAICS codes. Accordingly, the spending pattern of sector 526 is very general (it reflects a weighted average of all the different types of enterprises local governments tend to operate). If you’re taking this approach, we recommend that you look at more specific industries’ multipliers. Note that a type SAM employment multiplier, for any industry, equals (total employment effect) / (direct employment effect). You might also want to take note of the Total Effects employment multiplier, which is (total employment effect) / $ 1 million direct output demand.
