Hi Geoffrey I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing. But it sounds like you are trying to display results in a 2-digit NAICS Aggregation. The first step is to import the 2-digit NAICS Library into the Aggregation Window at Options> Aggregation. The 2-digit NAICS scheme is on the right-hand side and can be imported by clicking the "import" button underneath the library. It should be on the left-hand side of the screen, when the Aggregations window is closed. So it sounds like you've made it through these steps. Then in the Detail Results tab the "Options" drop-down menu should give you the choices of User or Default Scheme. The "User Scheme" will apply the 2-digit NAICS aggregation to your results. If the buttons in your option menu don't read "No", "Default Scheme" and "User Scheme" you may want to try checking for updates in the Help> Check for Updates. The current version is 3.0.13.2 (found in the Help> About menu) Please let us know if this does not help resolve the problem. Thanks, Frances

Frances Thanks - it worked for one case after I downloaded and installed the updates Now I have just downloaded some data for a different state and I have the same problem. The 2-digit aggregation has been loaded but when I click the "user scheme," I get a single line of zeros - as before. I checked for updates, but the system came back that everything was updated. Thanks for your continuing help ....and patience geoffrey

Glad it worked for you. Is your new data the same data year? If not we can take a look at that structural matrices if you need. Just to check, I presume you've built a new model with you new data, did you go back into the Option> Aggregation and import the 2-digit NAICS scheme before trying to apply it to your new set of results. The import is on a per model basis, so it doesn't need to be done with each model that you want to apply the 2-digit NAICS aggregation too. If it is the same data year, but still isn't working for you, please feel free to call our tech support agents as 651.439.4421. They can do a logmein to see exactly what's going on. Thanks, Frances

Frances Talked to Luke. He re-installed the system and it worked for one model (i.e. the results were presented in the 2-digit aggregation). Opened another and had the same problem. Any clue as to what is going on? Thanks geoffrey

I have never run into an aggregation problem that is sporadic like this before, which makes me think we are missing some steps or information somewhere along the way. It sounds like Luke saw the error you were dealing with re-installed your IMPLAN Version 3.0 and you tested it on presumably a model that hadn't worked before and the aggregation schema applied that time. Is this correct? Are you noticing that the application or lack thereof is related to a certain subset of models (i.e. certain regions don't seem to work but other do, or models saved to one folder work, but to another don't)? Or is there any consistency in how many times you apply the results before the user scheme stops working? For example, perhaps the schema will apply to the first two models, but not any that you try after, or perhaps only the first time you open a model, and then IMPLAN has to be shut down before you can successfully load the aggregation scheme again. Could there be key sequence difference in the times that it works and the times that it doesn't? It seemed from your earlier post that you were having this issue with both 08 and 09 data, is that the case? Does it happen with county or zip code data but not with state? Any information regarding a pattern that you are seeing of when it works and when it doesn't would be tremendously helpful, in trying to narrow down the issue. Thanks, Frances

Frances This is a new problem, only with the 2009 data. The fact that it occurred with a county file from Texas and all of them from Vermont, suggests it is not specific to one data set. In the Vermont case, it occurred immediately - after you had helped install the system and I had installed the update. Luke's strategy worked for one county in VT but failed in the others. Geoffrey

Good morning, Since it seems to be just an issue with the 2009 data, lets try a different strategy. On your appliance, please go to the Implan System Data folder (May be a hidden file, if you need help finding it please let me know what OS you are using as the means of turning on hidden files and folders is different for XP vs Vista/Win 7). Rename the 2009 Structural Matrix file, by adding the word "old" to the matrices name. Build a new model with 09 data. The software should prompt you that it needs the 09 Structural matrix file, and ask if you'd like to download. Go ahead and download a new structural matrix. Alternatively if this doesn't work, you can download the matrices here:https://implan.com/V4/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=204&Itemid=7 If the issue is with the structural matrices, this should resolve it, and you should not see the error any longer. Please note I'm having you rename, rather than delete the old matrices to preserve any spending patterns libraries or custom aggregation schemes you may have created. Please let me know if the problem persists. I should be available in the office this afternoon, to try another logmein session with you if the new matrices does not resolve the issue. Frances

Frances Followed your suggestions. The aggregation worked fine for those counties for which I had previously imported the 2-digit NAICS aggregation. But for the rest, the aggregation does not appear in the library... Is there some easy way to import this? geoffrey

Frances Won't disturb you today - I am sleepy from 20+ hours in planes. Could we do something Monday morning? If so, suggest a time that works for you. Thanks geoffrey

Thank you Frances, for your patience and excellent sleuthing. All appears well. What is surprising is I have been closing the aggregation folder for years in this way without problem - must be something in the 2009 system that does not like it. Best wishes geoffrey
