How to extract MRIO matrix to excell
I am a newbie in IMPLAN so I get difficulties to extract MRIO matrix to Excell. I can extract each individual IO from two regions but I don't know how to do it with MRIO matrix, a matrix consisting of two regions and interregional matrix. Even worse, I cannot see interregional matrix shown up in IMPLAN only individual IO/SAM matrix shown up in IMPLAN.
Does anyone here knows how to extract MRIO matrix from IMPLAN which I will use for my other analysis?
Thanks

Hi Gimel, The multiplier reports under Explore > Multipliers are for the single model only and do not change when the model is linked to another model. The MRIO multipliers are calculated by iteration once you run an impact (that is, we don't invert an MxM set of 440 sectors, where M is your number of counties). So to calculate the MRIO multipliers, you will need to run some arbitrary MRIO impact on the base model that is linked to models of the other counties, and then calculate the multipliers by dividing the total effect by the direct effect. Thank you Jenny for your valuable answer. But is it possible to see the regional flows from one region to another region using any scenario on base MRIO? If the region is A and B, could we possibly look at the impact AB and BA as well as AA and BB to create our MRIO matrix according to what you explained? Thanks a lot for your quick and clear answer, hopefully you can suggest me how to do it practically to create MRIO matrix of two regions. -
Hi Gimel, this forum discussion should be helpful: http://implan.com/V4/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=80&id=10627&Itemid=35#10638 -
The data shows the imports into the base region (county A) from the linked region (county B ) - what are imports for the base region are the exports of the linked region. You will need to run a dummy impact with county B as the base region and county A as the linked region. The import table in county B from county A, will be the exports of county A. -
Thanks Jenny, just one more question. Which table in Access should I look at if I want to find the total domestic use and total export of the commodity from one region? I found out, looking at access, kind of more interesting right now. Your answer has helped me a lot ... and right now I am making MRIO matrix but still need confirmation from you which table should I use for commodity domestic use and export in access. -
As I explore IMPLAN, and trying to work with MRIO matrix, I found out that when I aggregated the input-output and downloaded as csv to excell and doing some pivot table, I found a lot of final demand columns and two of them are domestic trade and also foreign trade , now when I compare this to account under the explore tab - industry account , I found domestic export and foreign export. It turns out after doing manual aggregation, I found out the numbers are not the same, so in your opinion which should I use for helping me generating MRIO matrix. Thank you in advance -
In order to better answer your question, I could use a little more information about what you are comparing. Exactly which report did you export to csv? And which tab under Explore > Industry Accounts are you viewing - "Reports", "IxI Social Accounting Matrix", or "IxI Input Output Accounts"? Thank you. -
That table only shows institutional demand for each industry - it does not include other industries' demand for each industry. For that, you would want to select the "IxI Input Output Accounts" tab. This report can be exported to Excel in full detail (Export > Full Detail IO Accounts).
