Hey Steve, Thank you for your post. When you say "I am trying to set up a model that would show the electric power industry’s economic impact on minority-owned businesses." What specifically are you trying to quantify? Are you splitting out the electrical power Industry by demographic? Are you trying to look at what minority owned businesses contribute to the electric power Industry or what they spend. Since this sounds like a project that may be at the edge of what IMPLAN is designed to do, we appreciate some additional information on what question you are targeting with your analysis in order to ensure we provide you with the best possible process.

Thank you for getting back to me. I apologize about being too vague when I posed my question. Yes, we are trying to determine what minority-owned businesses contribute to the electric power industry. Any additional assistance in helping me set up my model would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Hello, Once solution that might be what you are looking for is the Contribution type analysis. The contribution analysis only applies if they represent the whole Sector, so this might not suite your analysis. If you are trying to assess what non-energy business are paying into, and thus supporting in the energy Sector you can do this as well, but you will need to be able to identify at least one of the economic factors (Employment, Employment Compensation, Proprietor Income or Industry Sales) and the appropriate Sector of each of these businesses. You can then run impacts for the operations of the businesses, assuming the same rules about Industry makeup and contribution as listed above, and isolate the effects to the energy Sectors in the Detail Results. This will provide you with the resulting economic rounds of electrical purchases that those businesses contributed to the economy in the year of your sales/Employment, etc for Direct, Indirect, Induced. If you are wanting to isolate just the first-round of expenditures made by these businesses please let us know. Please let us know if you need additional assistance.
