Hello, I am trying to find out the tax rate that IMPLAN uses to estimate local/state tax revenues for sector 499 (Hotels and Motels Industry).I know that there are different tax components, I am interested in TOPI. I tried to calculate it myself based on your descriptions and found different rates. For the sake of simplicity, I created a new activity with 1 million change in industry sales using IL 2014 data. After examining tax impact results from different tables, I realized there is discrepancy as to the size of direct TOPI. Summary tax impacts table reports it as $133,155 while Tax on Production and Import Table (obtained via Detail Results>Value Added) reports it as $149,243. These are both direct TOPI, why are not they same? Tax rates are respectively 19.4% and 21.8%. In one of your responses to a related post, you note that "IMPLAN obtains data on tax revenue governments receive and reports that as a share of the components of Value Added (Value Added is what pays tax...". Does this mean that if the direct value added impact in my hypothetical example described above is $684,619, then the tax rate for Hotels and Motels industry would be TOPI/684,619? Is there another way to get taxes paid by different industries from IMPLAN? Thanks in advance.
