I am looking at estimating the economic impacts of tourism in a specific county. For my analysis, I am setting up aggregate sectors in IMPLAN for the following expenditure categories: Food, lodging, gas, retail, recreation & entertainment.
Below is what my aggregate sectors would look like:
Food - 400, 501, 502, 503
Lodging - 499, 500
Gas - 402
Retail - 404, 405, 406
Entertainment & Recreation - 488 to 498
My question is about the following IMPLAN sector: 400 - Retail - Food and beverage stores.
My initial thought was to assign this sector to my Food expenditure category along with sectors 501-503. However, I am not sure if it makes sense to combine a retail sector with restaurants (full and limited service) and other food and drinking places.
Do you suggest assigning sector 400 to retail instead?
